Weekday breakfast dates are the best. Sure, you have to get up before the sun, but with the promise of good food and good conversation with good friends. And you don’t have to go into the office right away! You get to decompress and relax before you even have to start thinking about work. What makes breakfast dates even better? Takeaway home made poptarts from Ted’s Bulletin in the Eastern Market neighborhood of DC.
Class trips to DC on my flight.
Sauntering past all the middle-aged business execs in suits, who think they’re so cool with their premier status, on my way to first class. Little old me? Yep!
You guys, we have to talk about this sandwich. This is the chipotle chicken sandwich from Tortas Fronteras at O’Hare. In the airport’s desert of McDonald’ses and Hudson Newses, Tortas Fronteras is an oasis. I actually got to the airport early so I could eat this sandwich - THAT’S HOW GOOD IT IS. If you’re within breathing distance of Gate B10, go there.
My new co-worker Jenny traveled with me yesterday to Steubenville, OH, of all places. Believe it or not, one of her friends familiar with the town had a restaurant recommendation: DiCarlo’s Pizza. Naturally, we had to check it out, and when we got there, we were shocked - shocked! - to see that a slice of pizza is only $0.85. Of course we soon realized why it was so cheap: The pizza is essentially a baked cracker with cold cheese (unmelted), cold sauce, and uncooked pepperoni. I guess they’re trying to cut back on overhead.
